Design: Lohan Architecture
Ravinia is the oldest outdoor music festival in the United States, enchanting audiences with world-class musical performances since 1904. Forward Space worked with Ravinia to bring green elements of their sprawling lawn into their office and reconfigured the space with strategically built workstations to comfortably accommodate an increased number of employees. Within this project, Forward Space outfitted the lounge area, reception space, workstations, private offices, break area, open collaboration spaces, kitchen, and flooring.
Fitting more workstations into the space while continuing support of employee physical and mental well-being was a primary goal. Our designers took advantage of the smaller size of the new workstations by incorporating cockpit-like convenience into their build. These workstations feature easy-to-access storage and enhanced ergonomics with Steelcase height-adjustable desks and award-winning Series 1 ergonomic task chairs. Tackable tiles were added to encourage team members to make the space their own. Ravinia employees were quick to make use of these, and workstations were soon filled with artwork, family photos, and Ravinia’s iconic performance calendars.
Steelcase High Density Storage Units were included with each workstation to provide a safe place to store alternate attire for concert nights. They strategically function as a door to shield the occupant from the rest of the office, offering visual privacy when pulled out completely. These changes to both the look and function of their office were enthusiastically received by the staff.
