What You Will Do
The Senior Designer, reporting to the Design Manager, manages multiple projects in a self-directed manner in all aspects of the design process including but not limited to design development, specification, presentations, renderings, and site visits. The Senior Designer will be considered a product expert for Forward Space.
• Will present and lead client tours and design interactions.
• Meet with company sales representative and clients to gather project requirements, establish project timeline, and develop project budget.
• Reviews RFP and Bid specifications.
• Develop creative design concepts and space plans that fulfill client requirements and conform to applicable building codes and ADA requirements.
• Gather field dimensions of project area and prepares accurate base drawings as needed.
• Generate furniture plans with intelligent graphics on AutoCAD and/or Configura including 3D’s and elevations as required.
• Generate accurate furniture specifications using Configura programs.
• Develop color schemes with material and finish selections within schedule and budget requirements.
• Prepare installation plans as requested.
• Lead mentoring and coaching of junior and interior designers.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, each with differing scope and products.
• Participate as an organization leader related to projects, Steelcase, and industry professional groups.
• Hosts design charrettes
• Will lead showroom tours.
• Participate in and prepare furniture inventories as needed.
The Experience You Will Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in interior design with minimum of 5 years working experience.
• Certification by NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) or actively working toward certification.
• Registered with or ability to become a registered interior designer with the State of Wisconsin
• 5-10 years’ experience in the commercial contract furniture industry with focus on healthcare preferred.
• Position is based in Milwaukee, WI
• Due to some onsite work, the following vaccines are required: Covid, Flu, and DTaP.
